Join us Tuesday , February 9th, for ‘UTA My Way’, a virtual event to celebrate and honor incoming Black and African American students. The virtual event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and open to incoming freshman and transfer students. The event will include an overview of African American history at UTA, admissions and financial aid presentations, and a student panel of UTA black student leaders. Student attending the program will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win UTA swag or a UTA scholarship award. Come learn how UTA can be a part of your story! The Office of Admissions is now offering virtual campus visits. Register for an opportunity to receive a live campus tour from a UH student ambassador and a brief information session from an admissions representative.

Admissions Presentation

Office of Admissions representatives will provide a brief overview of the university, academic opportunities, campus life, and detail the admissions process. We offer a presentation type for every student to meet your individual needs—including prospective freshman students and transfer students.

Virtual Ambassador-Led Campus Tours

University student ambassadors will provide a live guided tour of hot spots across 600 acres of the University of Houston’s campus. View academic buildings and discuss fun things to do on-campus from the convenience of your phone, tablet or computer.

TALK TO A UH AMBASSADOR

Sign-up to receive a phone call from a current UH student ambassador. What’s fun to do in Houston? How challenging are college classes? What’s up with the food robots? Get your most pressing questions answered by current students. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we also host #AskMeAnything.

Cantu Scholarship App Drive

The Alonzo Cantu Scholarship is for incoming freshmen who graduated from any high school in Hidalgo County, Texas. Scholarship applicants must be ranked in the top 25 percent of their graduating class, demonstrate financial need and be Federal Pell Grant Program-eligible. Students will be evaluated based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation and a personal statement. The award is renewable for up to four years with a maximum amount of $16,000 for students who maintain a 2.75 GPA, full-time enrollment, and remain Federal Pell Grant Program-eligible. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Recipients may receive the Alonzo Cantu Scholarship and additional scholarships to assist in paying for college.

Future Islander Extravaganza

Future Islander Extravaganza will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Whataburger Field from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Meet representatives to answer your questions about the enrollment process. Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Veterans’ Affairs, Scholarships, Islander Housing, Islander Launch Orientation and more will be available to assist you with any questions regarding the enrollment process.

 

Application/Portal Help Q&A

Office of Admissions Events: Rio Grande Valley always wants to provide an experience customized to you. Although we are not conducting in-person experiences for the fall 2020 semester, our virtual events will connect you with the information you want and the friendly staff members who want to help you find your place at the University of Houston.

This informative, free reception will bring UNT to you! Information on UNT, the admissions process, Housing, and Financial Aid & Scholarships will be available. You can also meet with various departments during the event who can answer any questions you might have regarding your transition to UNT.
