Good Morning Everyone,

National GEAR UP Week is scheduled September 26-30^th and it is an opportunity celebrate the impact of the program and those we serve.  Throughout that week, our partnership campuses will be hosting events and posting college and career messaging on social media using the nationally recognized hashtags #GEARUPworks and #IheartGEARUP.

On Thursday, September 29th, Region One GEAR UP will be kicking off our Family Engagement Initiative and hosting our first National GEAR UP Week Family Parade. The parade will be a high energy experience for our parents to celebrate their pivotal role as a key partner in student success.  There will be music, a drum line, cheering, school banners, and pom poms all around.

We are expecting 300-400 GEAR UP parents at the event, and we would like to invite you and your organization to participate in the parade.  Our students are currently 11^th graders, and this is a critical time for students and families in mapping their postsecondary journey.

The parade will be indoors, and we will be setting up tables for partners to hand-out goodies, provide resources/materials, and just generally celebrate in the festivities. Any institution mascots, banners or flags are welcome.

The parade will begin at 2pm and will be a quick-paced celebration of about 30 – 45 minutes in length.
